Roeder,\nUnited States Radium Corporation,\n30 Church Street,\nNew York City.\nMy dear Mr. Roeder:\nEnclosed is our report. It has been a big job and has\noccupied us quite steadily since leaving South Orange.\nWe believe that the trouble which has occurred is due to\nradium. We realize that no final proof of this can be offered\nat the present time but in view of material in the literature\nand of facts disclosed by our investigation it would, in our\nopinion, be unjustifiable for you to deal with the situation\nthrough any other method of attack.\nIf you decide to use the preventive measures which we have\nadvocated you will need the services of a physician who should\nknow not only certain matters in medicine but who should also\nbe a reliable laboratory worker. I believe that Dr. Royce Paddock,\n1019 Broad Street, Newark, could handle the task. He works with\nDoctors Lathrope and Alexander who took X-rays for us and would\nhave a real interest in the situation. Let him read over the\nreport and then communicate with me as to his duties. It will\nnot prove a serious matter financially for you nor a tremendously\ntime-consuming job for him.\nWe are working over some animals and will have additional\nmatter to report before the summer is over. These experiments,\nhowever, will have no effect upon the precautions you should\ntake at once, and consequently we are not withholding our first\ndeductions and recommendations to await them.\nI enclose a bill which covers everything except the cost of\nX-ray work and charges for this I will send you when they come to\nme.\nI am keeping a copy of the report and shall be glad to discuss\nany points in it which you wish to bring up. Recently some of my\nmedical friends have taken me in hand and will not permit me to go\nabout this summer. It would be a great pleasure to talk things\nover with you after you have read the report, and I suggest that\nyou visit us here in Boston before the month is up.\nVery sincerely yours,\nbill Drinker\nCecil K.
