films, the next step in the investigation was a consideration of the
general physical condition of the persons thus exposed to radiation.
Accordingly, in the beginning of the study every worker in the
radium section was given a complete physical examination. Eight
persons were employed in this work at that time. A former employee
who had been working with radium for six and one half years past
was also examined. During the period covered by this report
several employees left the section and one or two new ones came in
for a short time. Only five employees were continuously under
observation for the entire period of the year and a half which this
report covers. Table I gives a summary of the results of the physical
