Mr. Edward R. McGlyn,
810 Broad St.,
Newark,
N. J.
My dear Mr. McGlyn:
I think during our conferences the other day, I mentioned to
you that it was rather definitely reported that Dr. Frederick L. Hoffman
who is associated with the Prudential has been assigned to read a paper
before the American Medical Association Convention which is to be held in
Atlentic City in May.
From two sources information has been received
that Dr. Hoffman's subject is to be "Radium Necrosis."
Since Dr. Hoffman
did not accept an invitation extended to him to visit our Plant and make
full examination, I am left with the impression that his investigation
could not have been thorough.
I believe that Dr. Hoffman is a statistician for the Prudential
so that probably if Mr. Duffield requested him to select another subject
pending a complete investigation of the necrosis matter. Dr. Hoffman would
heed his request. It is almost inconceivable to me that Radium or
luminous material have any bearing on this condition, and it would certainly
make it more difficult.
Probably if you suggested to some of your people in the American
Mutual they would take this matter up through the proper channels with
Mr. Duffield or some other individual of importance in the Prudential.
I think you have this in mind, but thought best to write in case you failed
to make a note of it.
Yours truly,
President.
