STATE OF NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF LABOR ANDREW F. McBRIDE RECEIVED COMMISSIONER OF LABOR JOHN ROACH 571 Jersey Ave., deputy COMMISSIONER Jersey City. April 20, 1925. UNITED STATES U.S. Radium Corpora tion, RADIUM CORP. 30 Church St., New York City. Att: Mr. Arthur Roeder, President. Dear Sir: The State of New Jersey has been making an investigation of cases of necrosis of the jaw bone that were suffered by employes of your plant in Orange, N. J. In order to complete this report we would like to have a complete copy of the report made by Dr. C. K. Drinker, of Harvard Medical School, that was made for your company. While we have a report of physical examinations made by Dr. Drinker on a number of employes in your plant, we understand that, in addition, Dr. Drinker made a physical examination of several of the employes in your plant who were suffering from a necrosis of the jaw bone. We would like a copy of the report on these cases to accompany the complete report made by Dr. Drinker on processing operations and the physical condition of employes. In view of the very unusual character of the physical disabilities that were suffered by these employes we are endeavoring to follow up every clue that may throw light on the subject in order that preventive measures may be taken. We feel sure that your firm has nothing to conceal and that you will readily cooperate with us in this humanitarian endeavor. Very truly yours JR/E John DEPUTY COMMISSIONER Roach OF LABOR.
