COPY STATE OF NEW JERSEY Department of Labor Andrew F. McBride, M. D2 John Roach Commissioner of Labor Deputy Commissioner 571 Jersey Ave., Jersey City, June 5, 1925. United States Radium Corporation, 30 Church St., New York City. Att: Mr. A. Roeder, President. Dear Mr. Roeder: Mr. John Roach, Deputy Commissioner of Labor throuk me many months ago conducted an investigation of your plant trying to discover, if possible, the cause of the serious and, in some instances, fatal illnesses of a number of your employes. During this investigation a request was made for a copy of a report made your corporation by Dr. Drinker which you gave him. This was forwarded to my office in Trenton. Following up this investigation recently, because of some additional facts that were brought to my attention, I find that the report from Dr. Drinker was not a complete one. It was only a part of his report and threw an entirely different aspect upon the situation than would be given one if the entire report had been sent as requested. I am at a loss to understand why the Doctor's full report was not given our Department and only parts of it sent us. I am now requesting that a full copy of this report be forwarded at once, even though your Counsel Mr. Stryker, who called on our Mr. Roach a few days ago, asked our Department not to be insistent at this time on account of a law case that one of your employes are bringing against your corporation. In spite of this fact, I must insist on receiving a true copy of Dr. Drinker's report now, and if your corporation does not see fit to give it, I shall avail myself of Dr. Drinker's offer to do so. I wish the report, not for publication, but simply because I am charged with the responsibility of protecting those men and women who are employed in the industries of our state. If you had complied with my original request, I believe now it would have been for the best interest of your company. I shall expect a reply to this letter at once and a copy of the letter I have requested. Very truly yours, (Signed) Andrew F. McBridge AFMcB/E COMMISSIONER OF LABOR.
