REOFIVED JUN 11 1925 Calumbia University College of amn Sucgem 437 WEST 59TH STREET, NEW YORK DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH ADMINISTRATION 5,8 June 10 1925 Mr. Roeder, 0. 3. Radium Corporation, NITZ6 STATES New York City, N. Y. RADIUM CORP. My dear Mr. Roxder: On receipt of your letter, I got in touch with the Ansonia Cleck Co., and after inspecting their application room made an arrangement to examine the five or six girls now employed therre and who have been engaged in applying UNDARK to the dials for two years or more. These girls are coming to the University next Saturiay and we we going to make an examination of their blood which is the main thing to examine in any one employed around radium work. We are also going to geit some ex- ray pictures. If you can spare us say two or three more grams of the UNDARK I would like to take a group of animals and feed it to them in small doses daily for a period of time and see what results we get. Prom watching the girls at the Ansonia Plant I believe that they simply draw the brush through their lips and then by moistening their lips with the tongue the radium material is carried into the intestinal track. I want to test the amount excreted if we can as well as several other tests. I hope we are going to get into some other plants as well as I think we will get some very valuable information. If ososible it will be a good thing to make anexamination of twenty-five to fifty girls who have been employed for over a year in this industry. Faithfully yours indench B. Flaim Frederick B. Flinn
