RADIUM CORP.
My dear Mr. Roeder:
On receipt of your letter, I got in touch with
the Ansonia Cleck Co., and after inspecting their application room
made an arrangement to examine the five or six girls now employed
there and who have been engaged in applying UNDARK to the dials for
two years or more.
These girls are coming to the University next Saturday and we
we going to make an examination of their blood which is the main
thing to examine in any one employed around radium work. We are also
going to get semi ex- ray pictures.
If you can spare us say two or three more grams of the UNDARK
I would like to take a group of animals and feed it to them in small
doses daily for a period of time and see what results we get. From
watching the gorls at the Ansonia Plant I believe that tney simply
draw the brush through their lips and then by moistening their lips
with the tongue the radium material is carried into the intestinal
track. I want to test the amount excreted if we can as well as several
other tests.
I hope we are going to get into some other plants as well as
I think we will get some very valuable information. If peesible it
will be a good thing to make anexamination of twenty-five to fifty
girls who have been employed for over a year in this industry.
Faithfully yours
