July 8th, 1925.
Dr. Herbert N. McCoy,
1623 Hyde Park Boulevard,
Chicago, Illinois.
Dear Dr. McCoy:
I have your letter of the 5th and am return-
ing Dr. Reitter's letter of July 1st which you enclosed. His
statement that Mr. Barker is making redioactive tests O22 some of the
materials resulting from the autopsy is quite correct. The results
are not available.
Naturally Dr. Martland, the Essex County physi-
cian and a Pathologist of very high standing, would like to check his
findings so far as possible and therefore asked Reitter to communicate
with you since your name was mentioned by My. Viedt.
I can see no reason why you should not comply with
Dr. Reitter's request if you. have instruments that are suitable for
very low redioactive determinations.
Dr. Martland I think in conjunction with Dr. Reitter,
who by the way La our plant physician, is interested in preparing and
publishing a paper covering the effects of working with Radium. My
position is that 1t is perfectly all wights to determine these causes and
results and publish a paper, but that it should by no means be a super-
ficial or partial research. Perhaps in enswering you. might contribute
a certain amount of information that would be helpful along those lines.
Cordially,
ARoeder-LL.
