FREDERIC J. FAULKS Lindabury, DEPUE & FAULKS NOV 21 1#25 J. EDWARD ASHMEAD JOSIAH STRYKER PRUDENTIAL BUILDING TELEPHONE JOHN W. BISHOP, JR. MULBERRY 1755 WALTER D. BARKER 763 BROAD street, newark, N.J. JAMES E. M. TAMS BURTIS S. HORNER November 20, 1925. A. Roeder, President, STATES CODA U.S. Radium Corporation, 30 Church St., New York City. Dear Mr. Roeder, I have your letter of the 14th inst. enclosing letter sent you by Dr. Hoffman together with copy of a paper read by him before the American Medical Association at Atlantic City. I am very glad to have a copy of this paper. I think you should reply to Dr. Hoffman's letter but I am in some doubt as to the character of your reply. I notice that Dr. Hoffman desires to again visit your plant. I strongly suspect that his purpose in making this visit is to further qualify him to testify as a wit- ness against you in one of the pending cases and you are under no legal obligation to permit such an inspection, If, however, he is inclined to be fair, I suppose it is not at all probable that he can do you any harm by visiting the plant, and it would be of some advantage to us to secure a carbon copy of Dr. Martland's paper if we cannot otherwise secure it. I am very anxious to get a copy of this paper and believe that our experts should have it. If you wish to talk over this matter further with me before replying to Dr. Hoffman's letter I shall be glad to RECE NOV 21 1025 November 20, 1925. A. R.-2- OUTED STATES STATE SSEP, have you do SO. I am not acquainted with Dr. Hoffman and therefore hesitate about giving you definite advice as to just how to deal with him. It seems to me from reading his paper that he has attempted to be fair, although he seems to assume that the conditions and operations in your plant are re- sponsible for the necrosis, instead of making any very seri- ous effort to attribute it to some other cause. I am herewith returning Dr. Hoffman's letter. Yours truly, Enc.
