COPY Factory Department Home Office, Whitehall, London, S.W.1. Private December 4,1925 Dear Professor Flinn: Dr. Bridge has handed mo your letter of the 13th, ultimo on the subject of the supposed effects of radium on workers, in the use of luminous paint. You have seen Dr. Rosher's report, and that is the only evidence we have of effect on the workers. It was as the result of what Dr. Overton found in two of the cases that It was thought well to hand the matter over to Dr. Rosher. Such limited inquiry as has been made here has not revealed symptoms in any way comparable with those described in the Journal of Industrial Hygiene as occuring in a factory in America. No case of necrosis has been brought to light, and I do not know of any jaw necrosis in persons who have worked in this industry, outside of those reported from the United States. I an in close touch with the Medical Inspectors of Factories on the Continent, and also with the Director of the Medical Section of the International Labour Office - Dr. L.Carozzi - and 1 an pretty sure to have had my attention called to such cases, if they had been observed. They will be on the watch now. Believe me, Yours very truly, (signed) T.U. Legge Senior Medical Inspector of Factories Proffessor F.B.Flinn, Dollege of Physicians & Syrgeons, Columbia University, New York
