to get the information he wanted from the heads of various trade schools which prepare men for working in the watch factories. These schools are familiar with the conditions in the industry and would Imow of the dangers incidental thereto. The Doctor interviewed the heads of several of these schools and says that none of them had heard of any such condition in the industry although a groat amount of similar work is done in Switzerland. Dr. Szamalotski did not make any direct investigation in the plants which used such material and does not know whether the material used in Germany and Switzerland contained the same ingredients as those used by the United States Radivm Corporation. He had suggested and recommended that tests be made by applying the material which the Radium Corporation uses to various kinds of animals to see if any similar effect is produced. This was also sugrested by Dr. Gilman Thompson, who promised to have such tests made when I interviewed him with Mr. NcGlynn and Mr. Roeder. I did not tell Dr. Szamalotski that this was being done. The Doctor was very cordial and appeared to be very willing to do anything which might help to arrive at a solution of the question at issue. He is interested to know just what ingredients are used and the exact propor- tions of each in the luminous material, and what was the gum or binder with which the powder is mized before applying it. He asked me if the material used is alfrays the same and I told him that I understood that it was and I told him that there was nothing in the powder except the small quantity of radium and zine sulphide.
