A test of the expired air of P R.S. compared with the expired air of t showed E.
light but defimite signs of emanations.
Ta addition to the above testa tra exnined five girls who are engaged in
painting diala ix anoyher plant but in each anse we could not detect any imorease over
mount
nor
the comtrol, but ea.ch gave the same readiags when a five micro gram ampule placad
he
under thair backs.
From our observations we feal that ws are able to detect the presenoe of radium in
the living orgamiem without much trouble if all of the precrutions are taken as to con-
trols otc. In the oase of the last five girls we controlled the five ampule readiags by
observations on a guinsa pig into which we had injected the same amount of radio-Active
material.

One may deduct from the above information that persons around a crystallizing
plant or where a person may como in contact with the concentrated material daily
deposition of radium material may take place in the body This may be the result of
the
breathing in some of the actual material or as one of the decomposition products of
emanations breathed in.
