Mr. Sidney Mason, President,
Welsbach Company,
Gloucester,
N. J.
Dear Mr. Mason:
I have your letter of the 4th. I do not believe
that there is any basis provided by the Jersey State Compensation
law that covers the Buckley case.
A technical man in his capacity
knows the hazards if any of his employment.
We continued Dr. Leman's salary in full for six or
seven months, not with any idea of a possible suit because we never
believed that was a possibility, but because if any of our valuable
men met with accident, we would take care of them. If I should
be killed in a ferry accident tonight on the way home, there is no
doubt in my mind that the company would contimue my salary for six
months, etc.
I believe that a joint defense should an action be
brought against your company would not appeal to my directors.
It is most unfortunate that I will not be able to see
Dr. Miner this afternoon. I have a meeting of such importance that
I cannot be absent which will take me away from the office. Hoping
to catch him before he left Gloucester, I wired him as follows:
IMPORTANT MERTING THIS AFTERNOON.
WILL NOT BE IN OFFICE.
If he comes over any way, Mr. Lee will be here to take delivery of the
Mesothorium.
If he decides to postpone his trip, I would be very
happy to see him Monday or Tuesday and give him all my views in the
various situations.
Yours truly,
President.
