April 7. 1926.
Mr. Irving H. Chase, President,
Waterbury Clock Co.,
Waterbury,
Conn.
Dear Mr. Chase:
I am a poor letter writer, especially
when I try to express emotions such as are stirred by your
letter of the 5th.
It was most thoughtful and kind of you
to write, and your thoughts are a very bright spot in the silver
lining.
Yes, we have gone through an attack which
for maliciousness and meanness I have never known an equal. I
suppose it must be classed as a type of legal blackmail against
which no corporation is immune. The reaction, of course, is
depressing in spite of the fact that we believe we are on top of
the situation.
On the other side, the voluntary offers of
assistance from our friends has been a revelation to me.
I
lacked adequate conception of the extent of the good will for our
little company in the hearts of those with whom we have been
associated.
With kindest regards, I am
Yours truly,
President.
