After a more or less lengthy discussion by Dr. Knef, Mr. Cross asiced him what his proposition wase Dr. Enef stated that he had proposed to us that we pay him ten thousand dollars for services so far rendered in treating these various cases, and that he thought this wns a reasonable amount. He explained the fairness of this charge by going into more or less detail regarding the work he had done on the Maggia, Carlough, and Maillefer cases, and referring briefly to work done on othor asses. Stated that he is now treating a number of other cases and that he mast be paid either by us or by some one. He said he wanted to Innww whether he was going to play ball for us Or against us.
