Dear Enclosed herewith you will find an article entitled "Radio Active Material an Industrial Hazard?", by Dr. Frederick B. Flinn, Ph. De, Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygiene, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia Univorsity, which treats of the so called Pradiun necrosis" or radium poisoning cases. The investigation by Dr. Finn, which formod the basis of his article, has been by far the most torhough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This articla vill appear in one of the early issues of the Jnurnal of the American Medical Astociation. Whlle it seems that the charge of "radium poisoning caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised through the press a ferr months ago) is entirely unfounded, we naturally hesitate - without furthor investigation - to malce the broad statement that radium in luminous material is unharmful, although we believe this to be the case. Thereforo, in order to be on the safe side, we caution you, if you have not already done so, to order your operators not to point their application brushes with their lips.
