Dr. L. M. Boyers,
First National Bank Bldg.
Berlseley, California.
Dear Dr. Boyers:
Enclosed herewith you will find an article entitled
"Radio Activa Naterial an Industrial hazardi", by Dr. Trederick B. Flinn,
Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Physiology in Industrial Hygione, College
of Fhysicians and Surgeons, Colunnia University, which treats of the
so called "radium necrosis" ox vadium poisoning cases. The investication
by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basis of his article, has been by far the
most thorough and far reaching work on this subject. This
article will appear in one of the sarly issues of the of the
American Medical Association.
Mhile it seems that the charge of "radium poisoning
caused the death of several girls (which chargo was widely advertised
through the pross a fow months ago) is entirely unfounded, we naturally
hesitate - without further investigation - to make the brond statement
that radium in luminous material is unharmful, although we believe this
to be the case. Therofore, in ordez to be on the aníe wa paution
you, if you have not alrondy dono so, to order youx operators not to
point thoir application brushos batwoen thoir lips.
Thenover we zoceive any further authentie information
on the subject, ve shall be glad to pasa it along to you.
Yours very truly,
Presidente
