Ceo Hamiltos Tatch Company,
Lancaster, Pa.
Dear Mr. Miller:
Inclosed herewith you will find an article entitled
"Radio Active Material an Industrial Hazard?", by Dr. Trederick B. Flinn,
Ph. D. Assistant Professor of Physiclogy in Indástrial Hygiene, College
of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, which treats of the
so called #radium necrosis" or radium poisoning cases. The investigation
by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basis of his article, has been by far the
nost thorough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This
article will apperr in one of the early issues of the Journal of the
American Medical Association,
While it soems that the charge of "redium poisoning"
caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised
through the press a few months ago) is entirely unfounded, we naturally
hesitate - without further investication - to maice the broad statement
that radium in luminous matorial is unhameful, although wa bolieve this
to be the case. Therefore, in order to be on the safe side, we caution
you, if you have not already done 30, to order your operatore not to
point their application brushes between their lips.
Whenevor we receive any further authentic information
on the subject, we shall be glad to pase it along to you
Youre very troly,
President.
