NOIMSTMI sted lo 10% jostdue lo July 12th, 1926. Ir. c. H. Granger, Waterbury Clock Company, Waterbury, Conn. Dear Mr. Granger: Enclosed herewith you vill find an article entitled "Radio Active Material an Industrial Hazard?", by Dr. Froderick B. Flinn, Ph. D., Assistant Professor of Physiclogy in Industrial Hygiene, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, which treats of the so called #radium necrosis° or radium poisoning cases. The investigation by Dr. Flinn, which formed the basis of his article, has been by far the most thorough and far reaching work undertaken on this subject. This article will appear in one of the early issues of the Jowrnal of the Amerioan Medical Association. While it sesms that the charge of tradium poisoning caused the death of several girls (which charge was widely advertised through the prese a fer months ago) is entirely unfounded, we naturally hesitate - without further investigation - to make the broad statement that radium in luminous material in unharmful, although bolieve this to be the case. Therefore, in order to be on the safe side, we caution you, if you have not already done so, to order your operators not to point their application brushes between their lips. Whenever we receive any further authentic informa- tion on the subject, we shall be glad to pass 2t along to you. Yours very truly, President. CBLEE-OB Inclosure (1)
