January 30,1927.
Telephone conversation between Dr. Joseph Knef of Newark,
N.J. and Nr. Barker, of U.S.R.C.
Dr. Inef called up on the 'phone about eleven (11) o'clock, Tednesday
November 30th,1927, and asked if it would be convenient for me to
drop by in Newark and have dinner or a private intervies with him, tonight,
or in the near future. I told Dr. Knef that I thourht our objects
might possibly be at cross purposes and that I did not believe we had much
to discuss. Dr. Kneffreplied by stating that he folt that wo had
never been at cross purposes, and due to the fact that he had talcen a
liking to me, and felt that I was one with whon he could be frank in
this matter, he should vory much approciate having a private interview.
I replied by stating that I had just returned from a trip out of town,
and did not have things 80 arranged that at the moment I felt at liberty
to makce an appointment, but that I would call him back in a fer days.
He again assured me that he was anzious either to have dinnerwith me,
or if not convenient for me to do that to drop by hnd have an intervier
with him.
