Nr. Josiah Stryker,
Lindabury, Depue & Faulles,
763 Broad Street,
Newark, N.J.
Dear Ir. Stryker:
We hand you herewith copy of Summons and Complaint
served on our Agents, The Corporation Trust Company, on May 18th -
Grace Fryer, plaintiff, against the United States Radium Corporation, for
trial in the Supreme Court of New Jersey.
As per your suggestion we have sent the original Summons
and Complaint to the Aetna Life Insurance Company. You will please find
enclosed copy of our letter to them.
Undoubtedly they will be only too glad to have your co-
operation in the defence in this suit, ghould they accept the defence.
Just as soon as I hear from them we will try and arrange a meeting to go
over the complaint, es there are certainly many things in it not in
accordance with the true conditions at the plant.
Our employment records show that Orace Bryer never worked
for us after March 19,1920. According to indirect information we judge her
to be 26 or 27 years of age - of course this point can readily be checked
through the registered birth cirtificates, which we understand is
obligatory in Jersey.
We also understand that Viss Fryer is at present employed
as the head of a Department in either the Prudential Insurance Co., or a
law office in Newark. This fact, of course, can readily be checked, and
no doubt would have some bearing in the matter. We also understand that
she was treated by Dr. Humphrey of the Orthopaedic Hospital of the Oranges.
No doubt there is someone in your office acquainted with Dr. Humphrey, so
this point could also readily be checked.
Miss Fryor, according to Dr. Drinker's report was treated
at the Reconstruction Hospital, N.Y.C., in 1924, and also treated by
Dr. NcCaffrey, Surgeon Dentist of N.Y.O. We happen to know that Dr. Flinn
is personally acquainted with Dr. MeCaffrey and shall have him take up the
matter with the Doctor.
