Mr. Edward A. Markley,
c/e Messrs. Collins & Corbin,
1 Exchange Place,
Jersey City, N.J.
Dear Mr. Markley:
In accordance with your suggestion we have sent to the
Aetna Life Insurance and the New Amsterdam Casual ty Companies, copies of
the notice of the Bill in Chancery served on us by Potter & Berry, regard-
ing the Grace Fryer case against this corporation. We are, however,
enclosing herewith copy of this notice to you. We are also writing
Mr. Smith of Edwards & Smith, sending to him a copy of this notice.
Since we have 20 days from the 29th of this month in
which to answer, we suggest that it might be advisable to withhold answer
until we have had an opportunity to check up with Doctor Frederick B. Flinn
on the question as to whether Doctor McCaffery, who treated Miss Bryer,
pronounced this a radium poisoning case in the early part of 1924. It is
our impression that this is true. Dr. Flinn is now on a vacation, but
we are writing him today on this point, and we shall communicate with you
just as soon as we have had any word from him.
We mailed you today a copy of "The Interpretation of Radium"
by Soddy. This is one of the most authentic publications on the subject of
radium, and we trust you will find it interesting.
Just as soon as we can have the copies typed we will send
you the reports of the interviews had by our Mr. Dey with Miss Rooney of the
Luminite Corporation. These you will recall we gave to Mr. Smith yesterday.
Very truly yours,
President.
