6. Upon being so informed, as hereinbefore set forth,
that her bodily illnesa wes the result of the introduction of
radioactive substances in her body, complainant took steps im-
mediately to compel the defondant, United States Radium Corpors
tion, to make some recomponae for the great injury which it
had done to complainant, first, by the directing of letters ti
the Company and when this failed, by secking legal aúvice.
Complainant was without funds and under very heavy expense and
compelled to spend a great deal of time in attending Doctors,
ao that she was greatly hampered in looking after her affaire.
For this reason and because of the general basiness that surw
round ed the whole matter, complainant experienced great diffi-
culty in seguring counsel. Complainant was, however, finally
successful in instituting suit to recover damages for the inju:
done hor by the defendent, which suit was instituted on thel8t
day of May, 1927, in the New Jersey Supreme Court.
7. Defendant, United States Redium Corporation, answerin
the Complaint in sald sotion in the New Jersey supreme Court
brought by complai nant, has set up as the 4th and 5th defense
to each of the 2 counts of complainant'a compleint, copies of
which omplaint and on awer are attached hereto and naúe 6 part
defenses as follows:
FOURTH DEFENSE to BACH COUNT
The alleged of action set forth in the complaint di
not acorue within two yeara before the commencesent of this
aution.
FIFTH TO SACH COUNT.
1. Every action accruing for injuries to persona osused b
the wrongful act, neglect or cofanlt of any person or corpora-
tion a ball be commenced and instituted within two years noxt
after the cause of such action ahall have accrued and not afts
