Dr. R. B. Moore, Dean of Science,
Purdue University,
Lafayette, Ind.
Dear Dr. Moore:
On Wednesday of this week we had a conference with our
legal staff, and they have outlined a more or less definite prodedure
for us to follow in preparing the defense for our suits.
As I told you, the Judge has set aside April 25th to 27th
inclusive, to continue the hearing of these cases, and unless some
change is made beyond which we can foresee at this time we expect to
present our case on the above mentioned dates.
Our lawyers feel that it is essential that we endeavor to
secure your services as an expert witness, and we hope that your program
is such that you can arrange to come to New York in time for the hearing
of our case. A preliminary conference at 2 P.M. on April 24th, seems
essential in order that the lawyers may ascertain more definitely the
value which you can be as an expert witness, as well as posting you more
or less regarding the type of information which they desire.
I understand
that Dr. Lind expects to be in Now York about this time, and we are hoping
to have him at this conference as well as Dr. Schlundt.
We will appreciate your advising us at an early date as to
your availability to be on hand.
I wish to ackmowledge the courtesy which you and Mrs. Moore
extended to me during my recent visit to Lafayette, as I can assure you that
I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon with you people.
With kind regards, I am
Cordially yours,
Vice President.
