UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY MINNEAPOLIS OFFICE OF THE DEAN RECEIV: June 20, 1928 JUN 23 1928 Mr. H. H. Barker, United States Radium Corporation, 535 Pearl Street, New York City Dear Barker: Just before receiving your letter of June 5th I saw from the newspapers that the suits against your company had been settled by agreement. Shortly after I wrote you last that no publicity had appeared in the newspapers here, various articles began to appear which kept up until the time of the settlement. I suppose your next denger will be the filing of other similar suits. Dr. Burnam was here last week at the meeting of the Medical Association. In discussing your cases he stated his belief to be that the effects were due to zine sulfide rather than to radium. He did not lay much weight on the evidence of the New Jersey zinc because they have not dealt with the sulfide but rather with metallic vapors. I trust that the Insurence Companies bore a suf- ficient part of your damages ( I assume that they entered into the agreement and took some share, if not all of the liability). With best regards to Mr. Lee, Sincerely yours, S. C. hind S. C. Lind, Director. SCL/CS
