June 28th,1928. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Department of Chemistry, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: We are glad to advise you that the Medical Committee has been selected for studying the condition of the plaintiffs in the recant action at law, to determine whether they are or have in the past been suffering as a result of their employment by US. The Committeé consists of Dr, James Ewing, Professor of Pathology,Cornell Medical College, Director of Cancer Research, and Pathologist at Memorial Hospital, Dr. L. F. Craver, Assistant Clinical Director Memorial Hospital, and Dr. E. V. Krumbhaar, Professor of Pathology. University of Pennsylvania Medical College. This Committee is to have their first meeting this afternoon. However, it will probably be a month or 6 weeks before they will be abbe to see the complainants, inasmuch as some of them are starting on their vacation the first of July. The experiments contemplated to ascertain the sensitiveness of various methods of detecting radio-active materials in human beings is very important, especially in view of the fact that this Committee undoubtedly will have to assigned this work to some group of individual. The work will probably be assigned to Dr. Failla, inasmach as two members of the Committe are connected with Memorial Hospital - but could your work be published prior to Dr. Failla's work along these lines, I am sure he would be largely governed by the data supplied. Dr. Flinn advises that hé is leaving on his vacation the first of August, but will be glad to return to New York on the 20th, in case you are available at that time. As I understand it you ppobably can be here and remain until the end of the month or the first week in September, which sould be sufficient time, if everything is in readiness, to make consideralle progress with the contemplated experiments. Dr. Flinn's family does not expect to return until the end of the first week in September, and he therefore, advises that he will be practically free to devote his entire time to this matter.
