Paga -2-
In the last line on page 4 you state that the subject contains
approximately 130 micrograns of radium element - why not use the true
figure 126, instead of 1307
Table one, page 5: We feel that subject "DR should be omitted,
inassuch as this is not a true case of radium contained in the system.
Dr. Flinn will send to you directly within a day or two additional data
to be put in this table.
Page 8, line 12: We suggest the following - "were quite unfavorable
thereby accounting for variation in natural drift. It was hot and sultry
most of the time"
Page 16, line 5: Should not the rate of transformation occuring
daily be 16.5% instead of 18%? In the equation at the bottom of page
16, you have put in with pen in the denominator of the equation 2.09 x 10-8,
should this not be 2.10 X 10-62
Page 20, line 2: You state that it was established definitely that
about 4 2 micrograms, inasnuch in table 1 you state the approximate)
quantity of this subject to be 4 micrograms, why do you insert I 2 micro-
gransher In this instance it seens to me that the qualifying adjectives
*approximately or about" should be sufficienty
These together with the suggestions made in your letter of October
16th, we foel will put the finel touches on the paper.
The matter of a bibliography is one which we discussed but don't
believe that a paper of this nature requires any very extensive bibliography.
The work is original and is not dependent on anything we know of that
is already in the literature other than basic information pretaining to
radio-activity.
The page numbers referred to above are based on a new numbering
starting with page one and continuing with 2 and so on numorically.
We also discussed the matter of the best place for publication, and
it occurs to us that we would probably be able to get the report published
the
in full at an early date in the American Journal of Rochtganology and
Radium Therapy. We also feel that the nature of the paper warrants
its being published in a Journal of this nature rather than a Journal
dealing with purely chemical subjects. If you have any other suggestions
as to a good place for publication we will be glad to have them.
With kind regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
HHBarker : RH
Vice President.
