activity has not been located he will then hospitalize one ease at some later date or probably immediately. Inasmuch as this phase of the work is very vital to us it is our desire to cooperate with Dr. Fialla and enable him to be definitely satisfied regarding the complainants containing any radio-active substances at the earliest possible moment, and we believe that a great deal of time would be saved by having you present at these tests. Not only would time be saved, but I am confident that both Mr. Lee and I would be thoroughly satisfied with any conclusions which you might reach in this work. I suggested that Dr. Fialla was perhaps a little tempermental on some matters, but I know that he has high regard for you, and feel confident that you would have no difficulty in cooperating with him in this work. We have not suggested this matter to either Dr. Fialla or the Committee, for we felt it would not be wia to raise the issue until such time as we were assured that there was a possibility of your being present. While nothing definite has been said regarding Dr. Flinn, still in my discussions vith both Dr. Craver and Dr .Fialla 4 am quite satisfied that it would be very unpropitious for us to suggest his sitting in on these experiments. I feol that Dr. Martland had discussed the matter with Dr. Ewing, and 1t is undoubtedly through this channel that the Committee may be slightly biased toward Dr. Flinn. and I believe by not doing anything to aggrevate then, but by giving them our best cooperation in a quiet manner it will be possible for us to make then realize that Dr. Flinn is thoroughly competent in this field before we are finished. ile are, of course, disappointed that it will be impossible for you to be present during the coming week, but most sincerely hope that you can so arrange your program that it would be possible for you to give us one or two days the first part of the week of November 5th. In case you be in New York on November 5th, I would endeavor to have the Committee arrange their program to aake these tests on that date. With everything arranged it dould be possible to complete the examination of the 5 girls in the one day. of course if one of them had to be subsequently hospitalized, it would of course, not be practical to expect you to remain for such examination. As you know we have had a club held over our heads through a good deal of this litigation, and we feel that in this particular instance we have some definite information alone/ a subject of which we have knowledge and therefore propose to take a very firm atand in this matter. I don't believe that we would ever be satisfied, even though wa have the utmost faith in Dr. FiallA's integrity, in the outcome of thase tests unless either you or I could be present. You realize, of course, that we expect to pay your expenses as well as for your services in this work. HHBarkersRH Sincerely yours,
