UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA NOV 12 1928 DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY November 9, 1928 Mr. H. H. Barker United States Radium Corporation 535 Pearl Street New York City My dear Barker: Your letter of November 7 has just come to hand. I note that you suggest Wednesday as the probable day on which we are to begin the measurements. I am writing to urge you to make anrange- ments for these measurements as early as possible of the week of Novem- ber 19. My reason for this request I will briefly state. In the first place, I expect to be away from Columbia the major part of next week from Monday until Thursilay evening. My address will be c/o Kansas City Athletic Club, Kansas City, Missouri. I shall be home on Friday and leave then on Saturday for New York arriving there on Sunday and I hope that I can get to work on the measurements the next day or Tuesday at the latest, for I am planning to be back home in Columbia on Friday, November 23. On Saturday, November 24, we have our annual Homecoming. it is the date of the closing football game of the season with Kansas which will be played here in Columbia. The football event, however, is a matter of secondary importance. The primary cause for a speedy return to Columbia is the fact that I am scheduled to leave for Southeast issouri on a four days trip. We expect to leave Sat- urday, November 24, immediately after the football game. When you look over this entire schedule, you will see that I am trying to arrange my time so that I shall make my appearance in Columbia at least for a day or two each week during the next three weeks. I must do my best to keep in to noh with my class work which is pretty heavy this semester. I have given you these details so that you will realize how full my schedule of outside University duties really is. I may add that our Section of the American Chemical Society meets Thursday evening, Nov- ember 15, of next week and the speaker of the evening will be Professor W. A. Noyes of the University of Illinois and former president of the Societyl I have asked him to be my guest during his stay here in Columbia. With very kind regards, I remain Very sincerely yours, Herman Schlundt Herman Schlundt. HS b
