dustry at heart. I believe it was because of his interest
that the government did not accept his profered services for
investigation into this very illness with which the litiga-
tion is concerned.
I have just learned from Dr. Krumbhaar that he had
no idea that the committee was going to function as it has.
He made some question of allowing Dr. Failla alone to make an
examination but finally consented that an examination be made
by Dr. Failla since it could be done at the hospital where both
Dr. Craver and Dr. Ewing are. That the place of examination
should be shifted to a hotel is a matter which I believe he
views with great suspicion. If the Radium Corporation is en-
titled to have representatives present at the examinations of
the committee it is certainly most just that the other side be
likewise represented. Nor do I think it is a defense to point
out that Dr. Schlundt is interested in science unless, of
course, one roceeds on the premise that the true scientific
attitude can be found solely among those who are partisan to the
view taken by the United States Radium Corporation. I believe
that Dr. Drinker, Dr. Norris, Dr. Martland, Dr. Gettler and lirs.
Hewes and others are as interested in finding the truth a's Dr.
Schlundt. In justice to my clients I believe that the committee
should be allowed to function without interference by either
side. Certainly we shall take exception to any report made by
the committee based upon the examination of the past week.
Yours very truly,
Potter & Berry,
