-2- cooperation in the future. Cortainly those that were prepared to *dig up the dirt" in this case were stopped before they had an opportunity to get far. You will be interested to know that there had been a motion prepared which would have been introduced shortly after lunch requesting that the Federal Department of Labor conduct this investigation, and from their attitude at the Conference you may woll realize how we would have felt regarding such an action. We are giving our earnest attention to the point which you raised with Mr. Lee and myself, but not at the Conference in Washington, in deference to our request, and are certainly hopeful that we can work out something which will prove to be a true solution of the problem at hand. The latter part of last weck we sent you the Wulf-Hess electroscope, which I have long since promised, and trust that it will be received O.K. I am of the opinion that there are no fibers mounted at present. Sinceroly yours, Vice President. HHBarker: RH
