Re: Canfield, et al, VS. U. S. Radium Corporation
Mr. E. A. Markley,
c/o Collins & Corbin,
1 Exchange Place,
Jersey City, N.J.
Dear Mr. Markley:
Pretaining to the examination of the X-ray
plates in the possession of Dr. Humphreys, I am glad to advise
that Dr. Joseph Steiner of the Roosevelt Hospital, and Dr.
H. M. Imboden of 30 West 59th St., N.Y.C., will be glad to
go out to the Orthopedic Hospital in Orange sometime in the
near future to examine Dr. Humphreys plates - after which they
will render a report as to their findings. We shall call
their particular attention to the white lines on the X-ray
plates, which, according to Dr. Humphreys, indicates the presence
of radio-active materials.
We understand that Dr. Imboden knows Dr. Humphreys,
and while he has a rather high regard for his standing, still
I don't believe that there is any question but what we will
obtain an unbiased report from these men.
Dr. Steiner seemed anxious to have Dr. Imboden
accompany him, as he felt that two heads would be better than one,
and that ideas would probably be developed 88 a result of their
mutual examination of the plates that might not be apparent if
he alone made such examination.
I hardly believe it will be possible to have this
report in your hands at the time of your conference with
Dr. Martland on January 31st, but it should be available shortly
thereafter.
We are interested in the information you obtained
from Dr. Humphreys regarding Katherine Schaub, and I shall take
occasion to talk with the Committee shortly relative to this con-
dition.
Very truly yours,
