Dear Mr. Smith:
I am herewith enclosing copy of a letter
addressed to Dr. Martland, which I have proposed as a
reply to his two articles occurring in recent issues of
the Journal of the A.M.A.
I handed Mr. Markley a copy of this letter
on Tuesday at the City Hospital in Newark. In discussing
the matter with you and Mr. Markley it was agreed that we
should not disclose to Dr. Martland the information contain-
ed in this letter.
The letter will serve as a means of inform-
ing you as to the mis-statements in Dr. Martland's article.
