In one of your letters yo mentioned that Dr. Flinn was working on a
new therapy for eliminating radium. I wonder whether this might not be
following up a suggestion I made to him last summer, to administer
smalT quantities of barium salt, either the chloride or the sulphate. He

hard Onco objected to this suggestion because barium was regarded as toxic,

but I reminded him of the fact that barium sulphate is given internally when
X Ray pictures are takm of the stomach and elementary canal. It would
certainly be interesting to examine for radioactivity one or two of Mr.
Bailey 's steady customers.
Please do not let anything interefere with your proposed trin. You will
get quite a thrill out of the adventure.
