my dear Barker-
The enclosed letter from Zach Walter same to my desk
this morning by air mail: Since you. will require a fewdays
to get in touch with your business, I am writing Walter
this morning to try for another day or two of grace. He
evidently is in quite a muddle and by throwing up both
jobs and" fleeing the country,", he will feel greatly
relieved: It dues seem that he should be able to make
a release from Brawley job to accept the one
in Los Angeles; for any Board his must realize th at
a man held under against will is not going to give
his best, loyal service. d have troubles of this kind
on my own staff just now, but I never hesitate
about granting releases; a dis contented member
of a staff breeds all sorts of accessory ailments
The hint in my letter to which Jack refers on
h -2 of his Petter was nothing more than a "faint
trace"-
Hope that you and hus Barker will become
diet without feeling too great a pain or thirst.
adjusted quickly to our dry bread and water
must hurry this off now Good wishes.
d have written Malter that you would doubtless
wire him at once in case there is a chance for
him with U.S. Ra dium at this time.
Suncerely yours
Herman Schlundt
Regards to Mr. Lee. He will tell you that have paid my
