September 18th,1929. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Upon my return I found a letter from Dr. Hess, acknowledging receipt of reprints which I sent him. In his letter he states that for his study of the ultra gamma or cosmic radiation he has developed a more sensitive type of gamma ray electrometer, similar in construction to that which we are using. He calls it the Kolhorster-Strahlingsappamat. The ionization chamber of this instrument has a volume of 4 liters, is air tight and the fibers are mounted in the form of a double loop - the electric capacity is only about 0.4 centimeters. The instrument is manufactured by Gunther & Tegetmeyer and costs about $150.00, F.O.B. Germany. I am passing the above imformation along as I know you will be interested. Sincerely yours, Vice President. HHBarker:RH
