December 16th, 1929.

Newark, N.J.
Gentlemen:
We have your letter of December 12th, in behalf
of Dr. Edward W. Blakely for medical services rendered
Mrs. Albina Larice and Mrs. Quinta McDonald.
In the settlement of these suits each one of the
complainants were paid $10,000.00 cash and guaranteed an
annuity of $600.00 per year under certain conditions. Medical
expenses incurred by them up to June 4,1928 were to be paid by
us, but there was a limit set to the amount of our obligation
in this respect, and all bills presented were to be O.K'd by
the Honorable Wm. Clark.
Mrs. Larice submitted an amount of $1197.00 which she
stated had been paid by her to Dr. E. W. Blakely, and Mrs.
McDonald submitted a statement of $1116.00 which she stated had
been paid by her to Dr. E. W. Blakely. These women were re-
imbursed for these two amounts, and when the final settlement
was made we were relieved from all obligations to the five com-
plainants, except for medical expenses which might be authorized
in the future by the Committee of Physicians set up to handle
their medical cases. If there are any obligations due Dr. Blakely
from these two women his recourse is against them, as the United
States Radium Corporation has discharged its duty fully in
accordance with the settlement agreement.
Should the two amounts above specified not have been
paid to Dr. Blakely as claimed we would be very glad indeed to
know it, - or if the amounts covered services other than treat-
ment for the purpose of curing or treating them from the effects
of the so called "Radium Poisoning", we would be glad to have a
statement from Dr. Blakely, as there is a possibility that we
reimbursed them for services not coming within the limits of the
settlement agreement.
Very truly yours,
President.
