January 23,1930. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Your letter written on the way home has been received, and I wish to assure you that our course followed the straight line on our return from Swarthmore. We left Swarthmore about seven o'clock and reached South Orange about 10:30. We took a very different route, and found a much better stretch of road between Trenton and New Brunswick. Your suggestion regarding fee you propose charg- ing, seems entirely reasonable, and I should not hesitate to render your bill in accordance with same. It might not be a bad idea to mention on your bill that you have not made the customary charge for time required in travel in view of your general interest in this subject - or some such notation that would not establish a precident for rendering a bill in future cases. Me are giving considerable attention these days to the law suits, but have not as yet made much headway. We are not overlooking the possibility of settlement, and in the event that any reasonable settlement is presented, we shall put forth every effort in that direction. Sincerely yours, Vice President.
