Mr. H. H. Barker
United States Radium Corporation
535 Pearl St.
New York City
My dear Barker:
I have your letter of March 1 and note that
I W ill not be needed before Wednesday, March 12
at any rate.
I will plan to arrive in New York on the
afternoon of March 11. As I will probably come
through Washington, it will be necessary for you
to let me know by the preceding Saturday at the
latest concerning any changes in your plans in
regards to a compromise.
The only basis upon which I can get the
University to allow me to get off for personal
work of this kind is to do some work at the same
time for the University while I am in the East.
It is of course difficult to plan wuch engagements
unless I know definitely what your own plans are,
and after such engagements are made, it is difficult
to suddenly cancel them. Therefore, we should be
given reasonable notice of change of plans, or else
personal arrangements with us should stand.
With kind regards,
Sincerely yours,
nerm. me
