MAR 7 1930 EDWARDS & SMITH Attorneys & Counsellors at Law. No. 1 Exchange Place, Jersey City, N. J. March 5, 1930. Messrs. Collins &c Corbin, 1 Exchange Place, Jersey City, N. J. Att: Mr. Markley Re: Metz and Tuck et al vs. U. S. Radium Corp. Gentlemen: I have yours enclosing letter from Mr. Barker together with two bills for $500. each from Dr. Stevens and Dr. Pohle. I note the bill from Dr. Pohle is a straight charge of $500. plus $41. for disbursements and travelling expenses, while the bill for Dr. Pohle is itemized. He states that he spent 1/2 days searching records at Ann Arbor, Michigan and 2/2 days searching the literature and 1 day taking deposition in Chicago. His expenses amount to $97.64, It was my impress: ion that we were employing these two gentlemen as experts in the use of radium. While of course, I do not believe that an expert must instantly be familiar with all the literature on the subject, yet he certainly should have a working knowledge of the same. It was my opinion that $250.00 fees were sufficient for these men and it was my understanding that you thought so also. I think we should return the bills to them with the request that they be reduced. Very truly yours, EFS/MW EDWARDS & SMITH
