National Research Council,
B & 2lst Ptreets,
Washington, D. C,
Att'n Dr. C. E. Allen
Centlemen:
Answering your inquiry of March 3lst:
I am glad to advise that I have Anown
Dr. F. B. Flinn for the past l'ive years, and in a
general way have been following the nork which he has
done involving the effects of radiation upon tissues.
This work has been unique for the most part in that it
has dealth lergely with a hitherto unknown hazard aris-
ing from the daily ingestion of minute amounts of radio-
active materials,
Dr. Flinn's work in this field has been thorough
and painstaking, and has given us fundamental information
relative to the final distribution of the radioactive
materials in the human system the physiological changes
which result, as well as the progress of the injury result-
ing from such exposure.
I an glad to give my endorsement to Dr. Flinn's
application for a Grant from your Committee for the work
indicated, as I feel confident that he will make wise and
prudent use of such a grant should it be allowed him.
Very truly yours,
Vice President.
