    "ocrText": "June 4th,1930.\nDr. James Ewing,\nCornell University medical College,\nlst Ave. and 28th St.,\nN.Y.O.\nDear Dr. Ewing:\nThis will acknowledge receipt of your 1 tter of June 2nd,\ntransmitting to us bills of Drs. Richards and Humphries.\nThe contact which Dr. Humphries has maintained with the four\ngirls presents somewhat of a problem, and we have a few thoughts in this\nconnection which I am going to present for your Committee's consideration.\nI believe we are agreed that it is rather impractical for these girls to\ncome to New York everytime that it is necessary for them to consult a doctor,\nbut at the same time I don't believe that their complaints are of such e\nnature that they would be justified in consulting with a specialist such as\nDr. Humphries, and paying the fee which he charges for office calls. My\nunderstanding is that these girls are consulting with Dr. Humphries for the\nordinary complaints which we all are subject to, such as colds and other minor\nconditions. Certainly we would not feel justified in paying an Orthopaedic\nSpecialist's fee to suggest remedies for such conditions.\nA matter of two or three weeks ago I called at Dr. Humphries\noffice and discussed with him another case which he believes he has, and at\nthe same time he gave me considerable information regarding the four girls\nas well as other cases, some of which he did not feel had nuch merit. I\ngathered from Dr. Humphries that he was maintaining a rather close contact\nwith the four girls, and that he had no intention of relinquishing this con-\ntact.\nI don't believe any of us want to do anything to aggravate\nDr. Humphries in this matter, for after all he probably can render such med-\nical attention as these girls need as efficiently as anyone else. We do\nfeel, however, that if Dr. Humphries is to continue to take care of these\ngirls the matter should be discussed with him by your Committee, and that\nthe work should be done under your supervision and cognizance. We also feel\nthat if Dr. Humphries is to continue to take care of these girls for thoir\nroutine ailments, he should appreciate that he is not justified in charging\nus $10.00 for an office call.\nIn case you could have a frank discussion with Dr. Humphries\npretaining to this subject, and come to some understanding I think it might\nwork out quite satisfactorily all around to have Dr. Humphries continue as\ntheir medical advinor in New Jersey. However, in the event that Dr.\nHumphries feels that he is entitled to charge us $10100 per office visit\nwe feel that the Committes should decide upon some competent medical man in"
