Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Columbia, Mo.
Dear Dr. * Schlundt:
Mrs. Hoare will report at Dr. Flinn's
office at 10 o'clock on the morning of June 17th, for elec-
troscopic, as well as physical examination. Dr. Brothers
whom you doubtless remember, will make the physical examination.
Mrs. Hoare has requested that no representative
of the United States Radium Corporation be present. We are,
therefore, going to have to depend upon you and Dr. Brothers to
obtain for us a good deal of general information which we would
like to have. For this reas n I am anxious to see you prior to
the time of examination, and hope that you will find it conven-
ient to arrive in Newark on Sunday.
Dr. Flinn is spending the current week in
Washington and Maryland, and expects to have a conference with
the U.S. Dept. of Health relative to their work in testing the
girls employed in the luminous dial industry. I gathered from
Dr. Flinn's conversation that he expected to take his Wulf
machine to Washingt n with him and compare it with the machine
which the Public Health Service have used in their work.
We
considered asking the Public Health Service to allow us t use
the machine which they have for the test to be conducted next
week, but decided it would be best not to do SO.
We
will,
there-
for, have to content ourselves with experiments conducted with the
apparatus which you have previously used.
I believe I have advised you that Dr. Humphries
has called to our attention a case which he has under treatment,
and we have arranged to have this patient examined electrosc. pi-
cally at the New Jersey Orthopaedic Hospital in Orange, N.J. on
Thursday June 19th. I hope that you will find it convenient to
remain over for these tests - in fact I am hoping that you will
have an opportunity to discuss various problems which we have along
hese lines.
Dr. Miner was in one day last week, and I told
him you expected to be here next week. He is going to be in the
city one day next week, and said he would try and communicate with
you on that day.
Sincerely yours,
HHBarker:RE
Vice President.
