OCR Page 1 of 2TESTS FOR RADIOACTIVITY
ON
MRS. SAXER, (RUTH WINTERS)
June 19 and 20, 1930.
-
The tests were conducted in the office of
Dr. Humphries, Orthopaedic Hospital, Orange, New Jersey.
The first sories of gamma ray messurements was made
June 19, 1930. Another test with the gamma ray instrument
wes conducted the following day. The tests for radioastivity
of expired air could not be carried out successfully June
19, 1930, on account of the extrome hunidity of the
atmosphere; but the noxt day the conditions for making
measurements had improved decidedly.
The results of these tests leave no doubt
in my mind that Mrs. Saxer is distinotly radioactive.
The gamma ray test as well as the expired air test
definitely establish this conclusion. The expired air
test failed to show the presence of nesothorium, but
the test for radium are positive. Our quantitative
measurements enable us to state that the total amount of
radium present in Mrs. Saxer lies betweon 5 to 8 micrograns.
Respectfully submitted,
Herman Schlundt
