UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY L July 10, 1930 Mr. C. B. Lee United States Radium Corporation JUL 141930 535 Pearl Street New York City, N.Y. Dear Mr. Lee: I have today received a type written copy of my notes which I left with you July 3rd. I am very much obliged for this copy, and there are no corrections of any importance which should be noted. Please be advised that the temperature registered officially in the U.S. Weather Bureau was 99 yesterday, and today I think it must be 101 or more, consequently I am not working at very high efficiency. The prospects are that we shall have a warm greeting for Howard Barker when he arrives in Columbia. Mr. Henry Doerner is due here today but we have not seen anything of him. Perhaps the heat wave has slowed down his schedule. There is only one place in the vicinity of Columbia where I could take him where he could be made comfortable. This place is known locally as the "Devil's Ice Box" and it is in fact an underground cavern located about 4 miles from Columbia. I am afraid he would not care to spend his time even in this Frigidair subway. Yours very sincerely, Herman Schlundt Herman Schlundt. HS/GMA
