Dr. Herman Schlundt,
Columbia,
Mo.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
I have your letter of September 8th, advising
of the condition of chamber #7, during your recent test of
Mrs. Meta and Mrs. Tuck.
Dr. Flinn had already called this matter to my
attention, and I may say was only too ready to place the entire
blame upon your shoulders.
It is regretable that this incident has occurred,
one reason is that above referred to, and secondly - this examination
was conducted at the request of the Court, and I do not believe
that we would be successful in asking for a reexamination. It would
therefore, seem that we will have to accept the testimony based upon
the data as collected to date.
In Dr. Flinn's report he states that the results of
the expired air are of no value. As I regall neither you nor Dr.
Flinn have ever found a girl active by one method where the other
method was negative. I do not have a transcript of your date, and
therefore, cannot study same, but it would seem to me that in view of
these circunstances you can probably make a fairly definite statement
as to the activity of Mrs. Meta. On the original examination of
Nrs. liets, may I ask if you found her slightly active by both the
ganna ray and expired air tests? As I recall the recent tests the
gamma ray exenination was absolutely negative, and in the case that
you found her slightly active by both the gamma ray and expired air
on the original examination I think you could logically assume that
she would be nogative by the expired air as well as the gamma ray
tests on the last examination.
Dr. Flinn is taking a position with regard to this
matter that I am afraid will preclude our using him as a witness, and
we may have to depend entirely upon your statement with regard to this
matter. We would, therefore, appreciate having your thoughts along
these lines.
Sincerely yours,
Vice President.
