September 23td, 1930. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: As far as I know Mrs. Anna Stasi was never examined for the presence of radioactivity prior to death. Dr Martland conducted the autopsy on this woman and diagnosed the condition from pathological conditions as a radium case, but it is my understanding that he has collected specimens and expects to test, or have them tested for the presence of radioactive materials. Dr. Martland denies in the press that he has any interest as to whether Mrs. Stasi's three year old daughter is radioactive, and further that he will not conduct any tests upon the child. This case was brought to our attention about one week before lirs. Stasi died, and we anticipate that unless sone adjustment can be made suit will be filed eventually in Mrs. Stasi's behalf. Regarding the "Book of Doom": I assume that this book is the list compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U. S. Department of Labor. I don't believe that Dr. Martland on his own bohalf has made any survey of this field to collect any names. The list of the Labor Department, as you know is quite extensive, and I presume that you have a copy of this list. However, It is just as vell that the general public is not advised where such a. list exists. Sincerely yours, Vice President. HHBarker:RH
