Gentlemen:
Perhaps a few lines outlining more definitely what has
happened with reference to the recent electroscopic examination
of lets and Tuck yould explain the situation more clear-
ly.
The gauma ray testa conducted on both of these tromen
were satisfactory, and we may rely upon the resulta reported -
namely, that Irs. Tuck ia active and Lota was found to be
negative.
The prior ganna ray examination of these women conducted
last year, Fobruary 1929, found Tuck to be active, and Mrs.
Nota on the borderline, although the test was positive. The expired
air test conducted February 1929, on Tuck was positive and on
Mrs. Neta questionable, although indications were that abe wan
slightly active. The expired air test conducted at the recent
examination, that is, August 1930, we cannot place any confidence inio
for the reason that in transporting the instrunent from lien York to
Dr. Martland's office, one of the electrodes in the instruments
becama loose, thereby rendering the instrument inaccurate. This
electrode is attached on the insido of the chenber and there would
be no way of dotecting the faot that it wss not properly connected
by external observation. It das only found that the electrode was
loose after the inatrument had been returned to N.Y.
It appeara from the data so far collected that Irs. Neta
is strictly a borderline caso, and in all probability not radiosctivo
at this time. However, the data when recorded in black and white
does not thoroughly establish this feat, and in vion of these
circumatances both Dr. Flimn and Dr. Schlundt feel that their posi-
tion as witnesses in this matter would be materially strengthened by
the re-examination of lirs.
