Re: Stasi vs. U. S. Radium Corp.
Attention Mr. Edward Markley.
Dear Sir:
In accordance with our discussion at your
office on November 1, 1930, I beg to advise you that I have
been informed that Mrs. Anna Stasi (Anna Conda) had been em-
ployed with the Prudential Life Insurance Company of Newark,
New Jersey after leaving the employ of the U. S. Radium Cor-
poration. During her employment by the Prudential she was in
a condition of semi-invalidism and constantly under medical
treatment. Her condition puzzled her physicians and grew stead-
ily worse. She was obliged to finally give up this position and
was not actually employed for some time previous to her death.
The purpose of our visit to your office was to
effect a speedy settlement without litigation and in naming a
figure of $15,000 we had in mind such cases as Ryan vs. Public
Service, 103 New Jersey Law page 145 and Ross vs. Pennsylvania
Railroad 7 miscellaneous 469. You are indoubtedly aware that
there have been other decisions upholding these cases recently.
In view of the unwonted delay in this case,
I feel that we should have a prompt reply as to your intentions
as other means failing I must start this suit at once. Of course,
these overtures of settlement are made without prejudice in the
event of suit.
Very truly yours,
ARTHUR DE VINCENTIS
