Re: Stasi vs United States Redium Corp.
Gontlenen:
You will recoll thet at the confurence hold at the offico of
Bmory on Decembor 16th,1930, which was put to record form by letter
written by Re. lorkley, of Co lins a Corbin, on Decomber 18tb,1930, and
addressed to the various conpanies represented, we brought to your atten-
tion the fact that the estate of Stasi bed approsched us regarding
effecting a sottlement for the death of Stmai resulting from radium
poisoning.
The estate aubstantiates thoir clain by a death certifieste signod
by Berrison Martland, l'edical Exceuinor for County, attributing the
cause of death to exposure to an industrial hazard - nazely, radium poisoning.
Te have been negotiating with the represontatives of Urs. Stasi'a
estate for some little time, and have finally gotten a definite connital
from tham that they will relesse us from all future cleins, etc. for the oue
of $3000.00. It is our beliof that this is a ressonable figuro and the case
should be cleened up for such an asount.
l's. Stasi wos employed by the United States Redius Corporation,
according to the claims of the estate, from August 1,1916 to February 1,1920.
Suit has never been filed in behalf of this compleinent, and in vieu
of the diacuscion occurring at Emory's office on Dec. 16,1950, it is our
understanding that any sottlement cade for auch a caso will foll entiroly to
the United States Radium Corporation. Should the test case which the United
Statos Indius Corpe, is bringing against the insurance companies to establish
whotber or not their policios covered, and the proportionate expense to be
borne by the carriera respectively, remult in establishing that the policies
do cover, the insurence companios mould then reinburse us for the cases which
the elect to settle with thoir approval.
In case the pointe cs outlined are in accordance with your undorstand-
ing, and the sottlement proposed with your approvel, we would approciate
